Abhishek Das, a representative of the Hindu Jagran Manch, stated that he personally put up these posters across the city. Through these posters, the Hindu Jagran Manch aimed to convey a message of Hindu unity.

Controversial posters put up by the Hindu Jagran Manch during Durga Puja in Siliguri have sparked debate. The posters urge Hindus to buy meat and eat biryani only from Hindu shops. These controversial posters, bearing the message "Eat Biryani, but buy from Hindu shops," have appeared at various locations in Siliguri as Durga Puja began. They were also seen right in front of the house of State Minister Shankar Ghosh. The Hindu Jagran Manch has put up several posters in Bharat Nagar, Siliguri, directly in front of the Durga Puja ground organized by Taron Tirth Club and near the residence of State Minister Shankar Ghosh. The posters are also displayed around the club's puja ground.

One poster reads, "Buy meat only from Hindu shopkeepers," while another states, "There is no ban on eating biryani; eat biryani, but buy it from a Hindu shop." These posters have aroused curiosity among people, with passersby stopping to read the text. Politics have also intensified in Bengal over the issue. The former mayor of Siliguri has criticized the state government over the matter. Abhishek Das, a representative of the Hindu Jagran Manch, stated that they put up the posters themselves. He said the initiative is not limited to Bharat Nagar alone, noting that similar posters have been displayed across the city. He added that through these posters, the Hindu Jagran Manch aimed to convey a message of Hindu unity.

When asked about such posters being put up near his home, State Minister Shankar Ghosh said he was unaware who had put them up. He stated that only those who put up the posters could explain why they did so. Ashok Bhattacharya, former mayor of Siliguri and a Left Front leader, targeted the state government over the issue, labeling it as propaganda. He described the BJP as a party that implements the fascist policies of the RSS and accused the RSS of spreading hatred in the name of religion. He also alleged that the BJP is responsible for putting up such posters.

Ashok Bhattacharya stated that it is up to an individual to decide what to eat and where to buy goods, whether they are Bengali, Hindu, Muslim, Bihari, or Marwari. He said they have never seen such low-level propaganda before and that the BJP is behind it. Ashok Bhattacharya also criticized Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, stating that the language used by the Chief Minister encourages such organizations. He called for the removal of such posters, arguing that they are destroying peace, security, and national unity in the state. Other leaders have also harshly criticized the government over the posters. Another former mayor of Siliguri called the incident unfortunate and bizarre, stating that West Bengal is a secular state and such campaigns will not be accepted there.
