Patna: (ABN) Bihar's Agriculture Minister Ram Krupal Yadav said that under the Digital Agriculture Mission, a large-scale digital crop survey is being implemented in the state. This is a key component of the Agri Stack project, which aims to digitize the traditional process of crop surveys, making it more transparent, swift, and seamless. He explained that through the digital crop survey, location-specific information about every crop sown by farmers in their fields is collected through a mobile application. This enables accurate and timely estimation of crop area for each agricultural plot. The digital database provides accurate information about the actual coverage area of the crop, which proves highly beneficial for crop marketing, storage management, crop insurance schemes, and agricultural policy decisions.
The honorable minister informed that digital crop surveys have been conducted continuously in Bihar for the past three crop seasons. In Rabi 2023-24, this initiative was launched on January 10, 2024, in five pilot districts. By the end of the season, 15 more districts were added. Thus, a survey of 9.87 lakh plots was conducted out of 11.56 lakh proposed plots in 1700 villages of 20 districts. In Kharif 2024, the initiative was further expanded, with a successful survey of 16.59 lakh plots out of 17.35 lakh plots in 2200 villages.
In Rabi 2024-25, digital survey work was completed on 48.54 lakh plots out of 49.37 lakh plots in 7187 revenue villages of 28 districts. He further stated that in Kharif 2025, the initiative was further expanded to cover all 38 districts of the state, with digital crop surveys conducted in 32,707 revenue villages, covering a total of 1,54,02,156 plots. For Rabi 2025-26, a target has been set for digital crop surveys in 1,97,74,227 plots of 30,416 revenue villages, with over 1 crore 5 lakh agricultural plots already surveyed successfully.
Honorable Minister Shri Ram Krupal Yadav said that based on the accurate and real-time data obtained from the digital crop survey, the government is becoming more effective in implementing crop insurance, natural disaster relief, market management, and agricultural schemes. He said that this initiative is a significant step towards strengthening the digital agriculture system in Bihar, ensuring an increase in farmers' income, and accelerating the overall development of the agricultural sector.
