Patna, 17 March: (ABN) Under the aegis of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Bihar, the two-day 'Women's Mega Job Fair-2026' organized by the Women and Child Development Corporation concluded on Tuesday amidst great enthusiasm and historic significance. Based on the theme "New Opportunities, New Identity, New Wings, New Flight", this employment fair was certainly the first such mega event in the history of Bihar, organized exclusively for women. The two-day fair witnessed unprecedented participation from women across the state. Approximately 19,000 women registered for the job fair, while a notable turnout of 11,586 women was recorded at the Gyan Bhavan premises. A total of 6,135 women were provided employment opportunities (offer letters) by various national and multinational companies. The highest recruitments were made in the healthcare sector (approximately 1,250), followed by the textile sector (1,114) and the electronics sector (approximately 800). One of the major highlights of the success of this job fair was the enthusiastic and active participation of young women from all 38 districts of Bihar. Special bus arrangements were made for the convenience of participants coming from far-flung and remote areas. Additionally, the corporation provided them with all possible assistance and guidance at bus stands and railway stations to ensure that they did not face any difficulties in reaching the venue. To ensure their full participation in the program, special and suitable arrangements were made for disabled candidates. Within the Gyan Bhavan premises, suitable wheelchair facilities — with dedicated support staff — were made available for their convenience. The organizers made all necessary and robust arrangements to ensure the smooth and unhindered conduct of this major event. Along with vast employment opportunities, the salary packages offered at the fair played a significant role. The selected young women were offered an average annual package of ₹240,000. Furthermore, based on individual skills and qualifications, the highest package reached up to ₹540,000 per annum, which is evidence of the corporate world's readiness to provide fair and dignified opportunities for women's capabilities. **Closing Ceremony and Distribution of Appointment Letters** On the second and final day of the program, a grand closing ceremony was held at the Gyan Bhavan auditorium. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Madan Sahni, Minister, Department of Social Welfare. The highest number of appointments were made in the healthcare sector, with 1,228 women being recruited. This was followed by the screening of a special short film (video) showcasing the activities and successes of the two-day event. From the dais, the Minister and other dignitaries handed over appointment letters to 15 newly recruited women candidates (including Soni Kumari, Arzu Kumari, and others). On the occasion, the three leading organizations that provided the most jobs and compensation at the fair were awarded. In her welcome address, Ms. Bandana Preeshi termed the success of the ceremony as "unprecedented". She particularly emphasized the fact that young women not only secured employment in traditional sectors but also broke stereotypes by securing jobs in sectors traditionally dominated by men, such as the automobile sector. In his address, Mr. Koshal Kishore, Secretary of Youth, Employment, and Skill Development, termed the event as a milestone that breaks barriers. Meanwhile, Mr. Mahir Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner of the Bihar government, said that the participation of women in every sector is absolutely necessary to improve the labor force participation rate in Bihar. He expressed hope that such job fairs should be organized on a monthly basis to empower women. The guest of honor at the ceremony, the esteemed Minister of the Department of Social Welfare, Mr. Madan Sahni, said in his address that under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar, equal opportunities are being provided for the development and self-reliance of every section of society, especially women. This job fair represents a solid and successful step in that direction. The historic two-day Women's Mega Job Fair concluded with a vote of thanks by the Executive Director of the Women and Child Development Corporation, Mr. Yogesh Kumar Sagar.
