Patna (ABN) A high-level meeting was held today by the department, in which a review of the progress of works to control and prevent floods in the state before the flood season was taken. The meeting was chaired by Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary. Principal Secretary Santosh Kumar Mall, Chief Engineer Mr. Varun Kumar, Chief Engineer Mr. Brijesh Mohan, Chief Engineer Mr. Udhesh Kumar, along with other senior officers of the department and the Chief Engineer of the Flood Zone, were present via video conferencing. In the meeting, a review of the current progress of the ongoing preparations was taken in view of the possible flood in 2026. During the meeting, the Hon'ble Minister was briefed about the progress of anti-erosion works being done in the flood zones. The Minister clarified that flood control works, including the completion of tenders, should be given top priority and completed before the scheduled time, so that special attention can be paid to the quality of work and additional time can be used for site inspection. The Hon'ble Minister directed the Chief Engineers to inspect the site from time to time during the work. He also directed them to ensure the use of standard materials and to show sensitivity in these works. Furthermore, there should be no unnecessary delay in the administrative process, inspection, and approvals for the projects. All works should be completed on time with transparency, so that the impact of the work is clearly visible at the regional level. He also advised that if any kind of difficulty arises in the implementation of the projects, it should be reported immediately at the headquarters level, so that the issue can be resolved quickly. Furthermore, after the completion of the work, two to three rounds of inspection should be done at the headquarters level, so that the strength and durability of the structure can be ensured. In the meeting, Principal Secretary Mr. Santosh Kumar Mall said that the department has gained valuable experience from the last year's flood season. Learning from these experiences, future plans are being made more effective and practical. He directed that all works should be completed immediately according to the fixed action plan and work calendar, and the target should be to complete each project before the scheduled date.
