Strict action will be taken against those involved in black marketing of fertilizers: Ram Kripal

Awaz E Bihar•6 January 2026 at 07:18 pm•0 views•2 min read

Patna (ABN) Agriculture Minister Ram Krishna Yadav has taken a tough stance on fertilizer supply and black marketing in the state. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the government has clarified that farmers will not face any difficulties in obtaining fertilizers and seeds. The Agriculture Minister said in a stern tone that the government is following a "zero tolerance" policy against black marketing, hoarding, and overcharging of fertilizers. He warned, "Those involved in black marketing should be cautious. My warning is that they will not be spared at any cost." The Minister clarified that whether the culprit is a dealer, company representative, or government official, everyone will be held accountable for any irregularities. The Minister revealed that after taking office, he received videos and information related to fertilizer smuggling. Specifically, there were reports of fertilizer smuggling to Nepal via Muzaffarpur, on which the department took immediate action and filed an FIR. The department has now formed a "flying squad" at the headquarters and district levels, which will keep an eye on such cases 24 hours a day. The Agriculture Minister assured the state's farmers that there is no shortage of fertilizers in any district of Bihar. He claimed that there is an adequate supply of urea, DAP, NPK, and SSP. He appealed to the farmers to ignore any rumors and not panic. The Minister said, "Farmers are not just beneficiaries for us, but 'annadata'. Their exploitation will not be tolerated at all." To address the problems of farmers promptly, the Agriculture Department has opened a "special complaint cell" and issued helpline numbers. The Minister said that the department is monitoring complaints daily and has already canceled several licenses of those found guilty. The department is now physically verifying stocks to match the availability of fertilizers on paper and on the ground.
