The Bihar government is fully committed to making technical education more accessible and standards-based

Awaz E Bihar•18 January 2026 at 06:20 pm•0 views•3 min read

Patna: (ABN) A significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed today between Bihar Engineering University, Patna, and the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Gandhinagar. Under this agreement, students, researchers, and faculty of all government engineering colleges in the state will have institutional and free access to national-level digital educational and research resources.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Registrar, Bihar Engineering University, and Professor Divya P. Madalli, Director, INFLIBNET Centre. The occasion was graced by the presence of Hon'ble Minister, Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education, Mr. Sunil Kumar, Departmental Secretary, Dr. Pratima, Director, Mr. Ahmed Mahmood, Vice-Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University, Professor Suresh Kant Verma, and other senior officials.

Under the MoU, Bihar Engineering University and all its affiliated government engineering colleges will have access to Shodh Ganga, Shodh Shuddhi (Plagiarism Detection System), One Nation One Subscription (ONOS), IRINS, Civil Library Automation System, Indicat, Shodh Chakra, INFED, Shodhchakra, ShodhPINET, SHODHEMES, and other services. This platform will provide integrated and authenticated access to digital resources such as e-journals, e-books, theses, patents, conference briefs, and research-related digital resources.

On this occasion, Minister Sunil Kumar said that the Bihar government is continuously working to link technical education with knowledge, research, and innovation. He further stated that digital platforms like INFLIBNET provide students and researchers with access to high-quality educational content on a single platform, giving students of government engineering colleges in the state the same opportunities for study and research as those in the country's leading institutions. He said that this initiative is in line with the Bihar government's vision to make technical education more accessible, transparent, and quality-based.

Explaining the details of the MoU, Departmental Secretary Dr. Pratima said that the new system will provide students with a single source of reliable and up-to-date material for study and research. This will improve the quality of project work, seminars, papers, and research activities, and reduce dependence on multiple sources. Services like research proofreading will ensure quality and discipline in academic writing. The collaboration with INFLIBNET will streamline the management of educational resources in technical educational institutions.

During the discussion, Vice-Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University, Professor Suresh Kant Verma, said that this partnership with INFLIBNET is a significant achievement for the university. He said that this will enable the university and its affiliated colleges to effectively integrate their teaching and research systems into the national digital academic network.

The collaboration with INFLIBNET will promote the management of educational resources, integration of research data, and effective use of digital platforms in technical educational institutions. After the agreement, these services will be linked to regular academic and research work through the appointment of nodal officers in the concerned colleges, necessary technical arrangements, and training programs.
