Patna: (ABN) The government has tightened its belt to make the capital Patna smart and organized. On Thursday, Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitan Naveen held extensive consultations with departmental officers and issued several strict directives for the city's transformation. The most important decision pertains to vendors in the city's traffic and streets. The minister said that 25 locations in Patna should be identified to be developed as "vending zones" immediately. This will not only provide a permanent place for vendors on the roads but also remove encroachments and provide relief from traffic congestion.
Often, the underlying causes of the city's problems are underground, and now high-tech solutions will be adopted to address them. Minister Nitan Naveen has ordered the GIS mapping of the city's drainage, water supply, and sewage networks. This means that the entire network of underground pipelines and drains will be available as a digital map with a single click, making it easier to locate and repair future damages.
Furthermore, the minister directed that no ward should face a shortage of drinking water. Extensive preparations are underway for waste management. While reviewing the solid waste management plant at Ramchak Beria, the minister issued clear directives that the work of collecting, transporting, and processing waste should be of international standards. He emphasized that the city should be self-sufficient in waste management, for which attention needs to be paid to segregating waste door-to-door.
Directions were also given to purchase new vehicles for lifting and transporting waste to the plant. The meeting ended on a positive note. Minister Nitan Naveen congratulated the entire team of the Municipal Corporation and sanitation workers on the improvement in Patna's national ranking in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. He said that this is the result of the hard work of the cleanliness warriors, but we should not stop here. We should make the city even cleaner and more beautiful.
The meeting was also attended by the department's secretary, Sandeep Kumar AR, Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, and several senior officers, including the MD of Budco and Pankaj Kumar.
