Patna: (ABN) Former IPS officer Amitabh Kumar Das was taken into custody by Patna police on the evening of February 13. Police raided his residence in Patna and took him into custody. Notably, Amitabh Das had been continuously commenting on the death of a netizen in Patna last month. A case was also registered against him at the Patna Chitragupta police station. Today, police from several stations arrived to raid his residence with the intention of taking him into custody.

After being taken into custody, Amitabh Das made a big claim while speaking to the media. He said, "I am being arrested to save Nishant Kumar. I have evidence, which I will give to the CBI. An attempt has also been made to kill me." He also said, "The team that came to take me into custody has taken some of my belongings from my house. They were constantly receiving instructions over the phone to save Nishant Kumar and arrest Amitabh Das." Actually, Amitabh Das was referring to Nishant Kumar, the son of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

It is worth mentioning that in the case of the netizen's death, Amitabh Das had demanded that Nishant Kumar's DNA test should also be conducted. He had also made a controversial post about Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Now, action has been taken against him.

It is notable that Amitabh Das has also been accused of sexual exploitation. In the 2006 Shinban case, a woman (who was said to be the daughter of a retired IPS officer) had accused Amitabh Kumar Das of sexually exploiting her and making a false promise of marriage. Amitabh Das was then the commander of BMP-11 in Jamui. The allegation was that he had sexually exploited her for 9-8 years and also made a false promise of marriage. According to the woman, he had been in touch with her for several years and promised to marry her, but later backed out. The government had forcibly retired him in 2018, declaring him unfit. It is said that he never got his ACR (Annual Confidential Report) written by his senior officer because, in his opinion, all senior officers are corrupt.
