The need for positive, constructive and reformative thinking for the betterment of Urdu at the public level: S.M. Pervez Alam Languages flourish with love, tolerance and encouragement, not by picking flaws: Dr. Rehan Ghani Urdu Directorate's Abdul Mughni memorial ceremony and Bazm-e-Sukhan features expressions of Urdu intellectuals

Patna (Press Release) Professor Abdul Maghni was not only an association in himself, but also known for being an association of many associations. As a journalist, critic, scholar, speaker, and education expert, along with being the spirit of the Urdu movement, Abdul Maghni established a distinct identity across the Indian subcontinent. Professor Abdul Maghni is recognized as a towering critic in Urdu literature. He played an active role in the movement to make Urdu the second official language in Bihar. These thoughts and impressions were expressed by prominent Urdu intellectuals who participated in the memorial ceremony and Bazm-e-Sukhan program organized by the Urdu Directorate, Department of Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Bihar, at the auditorium, Faneeshwar Nath Renu Hindi Bhavan, Patna. The program began with the lighting of lamps. The ceremony was presided over by S.M. Ashraf Farid, Chief Editor of the daily Quami Tanzeem, Patna. Ahmad Mahmood, Additional Secretary, and Director, Science, Technology, and Technical Education Department, Patna, and Noshad Alam, Chairman of the Urdu Advisory Committee, Bihar, Patna, attended as guest of honor. In his presidential address, S.M. Ashraf Farid said that first of all, he would like to thank the Director of the Urdu Directorate, S.M. Parvez Alam, for inviting him as the president. He said that the Chief Minister of Bihar has a better and positive attitude towards Urdu. In such a situation, he would like to tell the Chairman of the Urdu Advisory Committee to send his recommendations to the government so that the government can make further progress for the betterment of Urdu. He said that no movement becomes strong and successful unless its companions work together and the lovers of Urdu contribute to it. He said that by removing internal disagreements and working together in unity, success will be achieved. He was known for being a man of action, prose writer, and critic. He said that Professor Abdul Maghni was associated with the Urdu movement and worked alongside Ghulam Sarwar. Later, he took his Urdu movement forward under the aegis of the Anjuman Taraqi Urdu and played a significant role in making Urdu the second official language in Bihar. Despite being a professor of English, he was not overwhelmed by Westernization. He was a lover of Eastern culture. The new generation should learn from his life and achievements and benefit from his thoughts and art. Noshad Alam, Chairman of the Urdu Advisory Committee, Bihar, Patna, said that undoubtedly, Professor Abdul Maghni's services to Urdu are unforgettable. He said that work is being done in all districts for the promotion of Urdu. The need is for the Urdu promotion movement to contribute to it. Until we work together for Urdu, we cannot hope for its betterment. Earlier, while presenting the welcome and introductory remarks on behalf of the Urdu Directorate, Department of Cabinet Secretariat, S.M. Parvez Alam, Director, Urdu Directorate, warmly welcomed all the guests and lovers of Urdu. Today's ceremony was organized to acknowledge Professor Abdul Maghni's services to language and literature and to pay tribute to him. The basic purpose of organizing memorial ceremonies is to pay tribute to the life, literary services, and achievements of a great and dignified personality and to introduce the new generation to their achievements and services. Professor Abdul Maghni was a significant critic of Urdu literature and a leading figure in the Urdu movement in Bihar. His role was central and important in making Urdu the second official language in Bihar. He had equal power and expertise in Urdu, Arabic, Persian, and English. His knowledge, intelligence, and ability were extraordinary. Professor Abdul Maghni presented a bright vision of purposeful and constructive criticism in literature. As a scholar, critic, and good speaker, Professor Abdul Maghni was known for his all-India fame and illuminated the name of Bihar across the country through his immense abilities and invaluable services to language and literature. Director Parvez Alam said that the Urdu Directorate, Government of Bihar, is fully committed to the purpose for which Urdu was given the status of the second official language and the Urdu Directorate was established. The government of Bihar is working on many projects for the promotion of Urdu across the state. The biggest achievement of the government of Bihar in the promotion of Urdu is to teach Urdu to non-Urdu speakers, which is being done well under the online Urdu learning program managed by the Urdu Directorate. He said that the programs organized by the Urdu Directorate are of a different nature than ordinary literary gatherings. The work being done by government agencies for the promotion of Urdu cannot be seen through the eyes of private institutions. The work of other Urdu organizations can be purely literary, but the Urdu ceremonies of the government are for the language and lovers of Urdu. It is not necessary that all ceremonies should be of a purely literary nature like colleges, universities, or other organizations. He said that any person who is a lover of Urdu has the right to present their views in the Urdu promotion ceremony. He said that the purpose of the programs organized at the state and district levels is to connect as many people as possible with Urdu. The government has given the status of the second official language to Urdu not just for Muslims, but for all people who love and appreciate Urdu literature. The entire outline of the program, timing, selection of essayists and poets, is done under the district administration. The Urdu employees deputed in the districts organize the program with great effort and hard work, using their ability and local cooperation. They should be encouraged for this. The program includes the participation of local Urdu lovers who are actively involved in the service of Urdu. People of all kinds participate in it. The basic principle of journalism is that before writing or commenting on any subject or situation, one should be aware of the other party's point of view and the correct situation. He said that there is no direct involvement of the Urdu Directorate in the district-level programs. The government is keen to promote both the language and literature of Urdu, and the dialect and pronunciation of languages can vary with regional changes. One cannot discriminate against someone based on pronunciation. All regional Urdu dialects of the state are also part of the government's language promotion policy. They can express their views in their regional Urdu language, in which literary shortcomings can be felt. He said that the ceremony also includes individuals who love Urdu, want to learn and speak Urdu. He said that not everyone's language and expression can have the same level of eloquence and rhetoric. It is not necessary that everyone should have the same level of eloquence and rhetoric. He said that one should have a positive mindset. Before criticizing or commenting on any program, one should contact the concerned officials or representatives to know the facts. He said that Urdu ceremonies are a living symbol of our literary heritage, where the respect of words, the transmission of emotions, and the love of language come together. Unnecessary critical attitudes not only discourage new writers but also hinder the promotion of Urdu. Criticism, if not constructive, only serves to satisfy one's ego. The need is to see the good things in the ceremonies before the flaws, to prioritize intention over words, and to make reform a means of guidance rather than ridicule. Director Parvez Alam further said that the efforts being made for the promotion of Urdu should be appreciated and encouraged. We should learn from the shortcomings, move forward, and encourage those who are working. Participating in the program as an audience is also a service to Urdu and a sign of love for Urdu. He said that participating in Urdu programs is also a part of promoting Urdu. When people listen to your essays and poems, you should also have the desire to listen to their essays and poems. Additional Secretary Ahmad Mahmood, including Director, Science, Technology, and Technical Education Department, Patna, and former Director of the Urdu Directorate, Patna, shared his special memories associated with his father in a very emotional way. He told that his father was always busy with the promotion and dissemination of the Urdu language and literature. He spent most of his time among Urdu lovers. He thanked the Urdu Directorate for organizing the memorial ceremony for his father, Abdul Maghni, and appreciated the performance of the Urdu Directorate. He thanked Director S.M. Parvez Alam for inviting him on this special occasion. He said that children should also receive an education in Urdu. It is unfortunate that nowadays children are reading very little Urdu. To keep the language alive, children will have to read Urdu. One should create a connection with the language and generate interest. Children should receive all kinds of education, but they must also receive an education in their mother tongue, Urdu. Dr. Rehan Ghani, a well-known journalist, critic, and writer from Patna, thanked Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Choudhary and Additional Secretary and Director of the Urdu Directorate and said that today's dignity and grandeur of the Urdu language is due to the Urdu movement of Sher-e-Bihar Ghulam Sarwar and Professor Abdul Maghni. They did a lot for Urdu but did not take anything from Urdu. Professor Abdul Maghni had his own style; he was not an imitator of anyone. He was a great writer, critic, teacher, and journalist. He had the qualities of truthfulness and boldness, which are rare in people. Dr. Rehan Ghani, while talking about the Urdu Directorate's program, said that the government of Bihar is keen and committed to promoting Urdu across the state. Various programs are being organized in different districts of Bihar for the promotion of Urdu. In such circumstances, we, the Urdu lovers, are spending all our energy not on working for the promotion of Urdu, but on finding fault in the programs, asking why a particular person was invited, what is his status,
