Patna, 7 February (ABN) Independent MP from Purnia, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, has been arrested by police in a three-decade-old case of cheating, forgery, and intimidation. Police sources said on Saturday that Pappu Yadav was arrested from his residence in Manderi, Patna. Immediately after the arrest, he was taken to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) for a medical check-up. According to sources, Pappu Yadav had allegedly rented a house in the Gardanibagh area of Patna in 1995 to run his party activities by deceiving the owner. A person named Shailendra Prasad had rented the house in his name, but later the owner came to know that Pappu Yadav was using it for party activities. When the house was not vacated despite repeated requests from the owner, a case was filed against Pappu Yadav, Shailendra Prasad, and Chandranarayan at the Gardanibagh police station. Police sources said that Pappu Yadav was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by the MP-MLA court on Friday night and will be produced in court today. Meanwhile, Pappu Yadav said that the government has been disturbed by him raising public interest issues, which is why he is being harassed repeatedly.
