Patna: The Revenue and Land Reforms Department is fully committed to ensuring that Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) families get actual possession of the land allotted and settled to them. The department's secretary, Mr. Jay Singh, clarified that any private individual who dispossesses SC/ST families from government, gairmazarua, arazi attiya, or land purchased in rural areas will be considered a serious and punishable offense. A special campaign, "Operation Zameen Dakhil Dehani", is being launched to provide quick justice to SC/ST landowners and secure their land rights. Under this campaign, the state government aims to ensure 100% possession of allotted land to all eligible SC/ST landowners.
The department has clarified that constitutional and legal provisions will be strictly enforced to protect the interests of the SC/ST community. Article 46 of the Constitution provides special protection for the social and economic interests of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Furthermore, under Section 3(f) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015, unauthorized occupation of land allotted to SC/ST families is a punishable offense.
