According to top sources of the Janata Dal United (JDU), the chapter of senior leader K.C. Tyagi is now closed in the party. In recent days, there were reports of discontent within the party over some statements and activities of Tyagi. Sources said that Tyagi had taken a stand deviating from the party line, after which the JDU leadership decided to distance itself from him. The recent statement by party spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan has made it clear that JDU no longer has any formal relationship with K.C. Tyagi.
It is worth mentioning that K.C. Tyagi had recently demanded 'Bharat Ratna' for Bihar Chief Minister and JDU national president Nitish Kumar. He had made this demand by writing a formal letter to PM Modi. In his letter, Tyagi wrote that just like Chaudhary Charan Singh and Krupori Thakur were awarded Bharat Ratna last year, Nitish Kumar is also deserving of it, but JDU has distanced itself from his demand. JDU spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said that K.C. Tyagi's demand has nothing to do with the party's official stance. In fact, it is not even known whether he is with JDU or not, so his statements should be seen as his personal opinion.
Sources say that there has been an amicable separation between the two. However, the party leadership has decided not to take any formal disciplinary action against K.C. Tyagi for now. The reason cited is his long and old association with the party. Within JDU, it is believed that Tyagi has played an important role in the party for a long time, and the leadership does not want any confrontation. According to party sources, K.C. Tyagi no longer represents JDU's policies, decisions, and official stance.
In the future, he will not have any role in the statements and political stance issued by the party. The JDU leadership has adopted a balanced approach in this matter, indicating that the separation has been peaceful and mutually agreed upon. Meanwhile, within JDU's inner circles, this is being seen as the end of an era, although the party leadership is focusing on future strategy and organizational strengthening.
Notably, K.C. Tyagi had recently made a statement in support of Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman, which was not liked by the JDU leadership. He had said that politics should not be brought into sports, and when Bangladesh has made Hindu cricketer Liton Das the captain of their team, India should also reconsider its decision and allow them to play in the IPL.
