Nishant Kumar Jee D.U.K. member, formal entry into active politics of Bihar

Awaz E Bihar•8 March 2026 at 07:31 pm•4 views•4 min read

Patna, 08 March (ABN): Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar has formally joined active politics in Bihar by becoming a member of the Janata Dal United (JDU) on Sunday.
After Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to go to the Rajya Sabha, the demand to bring Nishant into active politics gained momentum from the leaders and workers of the Janata Dal United (JDU). After three days of consultation within the party and a meeting of MLAs, Nishant Kumar became a member of the party today after getting approval from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Nishant was given membership by the party's national president Sanjay Jha at a grand ceremony held at the party's state office. Senior leaders and a large number of workers were present on the occasion. The workers made the event a historic moment with enthusiasm and hope, expressing the hope that after Nitish Kumar goes to the Rajya Sabha, Nishant will prove to be the party's new strength and energy.
After becoming a member of the Janata Dal United (JDU), Nishant addressed the party leaders and workers, saying that he would make every effort to strengthen the party. Trying to reduce the disappointment and pain among the workers due to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to go to the Rajya Sabha, he said that it was his personal decision. Nishant said that he accepts his father's decision to go to the Rajya Sabha. He said that his father has worked hard for the development of Bihar as Chief Minister for the last 20 years and his effort will be to take his father's efforts to the people and take them forward. He said that he will make the people of the state aware of the works and achievements of Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister.
Nishant said that he will try to live up to the trust of the leaders, workers, and the public. He also said that he is proud of his father. At the state party office, senior leaders of the Janata Dal United (JDU), including Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Amish Kushwaha, and Shravan Kumar, were present along with a large number of party workers.
About 200 meters away from the Janata Dal United (JDU) state office, the sound of drums and nagadas started ringing. Several groups of youths were dancing. A line of horses was standing and an elephant was waiting to welcome a leader.
At exactly 1 pm, as Nishant Kumar's flower-decorated car reached the party office gate, the crowd rushed forward. Everyone was eager to catch a glimpse of their leader. Nishant Kumar waved and greeted everyone from the car window.
Manjit Singh, an MLA with a bouquet, told UNI that the despair that had spread in the Janata Dal United (JDU) is now ending. He said that after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to go to the Rajya Sabha, it was necessary for Nishant Kumar to enter politics to keep the party workers united. He said that now the critics who were saying that the Janata Dal United (JDU) would disintegrate after Nitish Kumar's departure from the Chief Minister's post will be silenced.
The posters and cutouts of Engineer Nishant Kumar put up outside the party office reflected the same enthusiasm among the workers that was earlier seen for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. A woman worker said that after Nitish Kumar's decision to leave the Chief Minister's post, there was deep disappointment among the women of the state, but Nishant Kumar has said today that he will take his father's work forward and hopes that the process of empowering women in the state will continue.
An enthusiastic young worker said that Nishant Kumar is a wise and educated person like his father. Just as Nitish Kumar had taken a step with clean intentions in Bihar politics at one time, a similar glimpse can be seen in Nishant. The worker said that people are saying that Nishant Kumar can be given the post of Deputy Chief Minister, but the youth of the Janata Dal United (JDU) want him to become the Chief Minister.
