Pilgrimage of Development: Bihar will continue to progress under Nitish Kumar's leadership: Sushil Modi

Awaz E Bihar•10 March 2026 at 02:31 pm•7 views•3 min read

Patna/ Supaul/ Madhepura, 10 March (ABN). Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar will continue to move forward on the path of development. He said that even after his visit to Delhi, Nitish Kumar will continue to accelerate the development of Bihar through his guidance and the good governance policies of the NDA government will continue. The Deputy Chief Minister visited Supaul and Madhepura during his Samriddhi Yatra. Addressing a public meeting in Naraul and BN in Supaul district, and at the North Campus of BN Mandal University in Madhepura district, he highlighted the development efforts of the state government.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said, "It used to take eight hours to reach Patna from Supaul. After the construction of wide roads and bridges by the NDA government, the journey from Naraul to Patna now takes only three hours." The Deputy Chief Minister said that Supaul was once severely affected by the floods of the Kosi River, and people were even hesitant to come here. In 2008-09, the release of approximately 1.92 lakh cusecs of water from Nepal into the Kosi led to 14 districts being flooded. However, the management of the river and the strengthening of the embankments have significantly changed the situation. Despite the arrival of approximately 6.5 lakh cusecs of water in 2024, only 156 villages were affected.

He said that before 2005, it was difficult to get five hours of electricity in the villages of Bihar, while today the state has a 24-hour power supply. While the number of electricity consumers was only 17 lakh in 2005, it has now increased to 6.21 lakh. Now, electricity is provided free up to 125 units, resulting in zero electricity bills for about 88 percent of households.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that due to planned development and strong leadership, every village and block in the state now has a strong infrastructure of roads, schools, and other basic amenities. He pointed out that between 1990 and 2005, not even one lakh people got jobs in Bihar, while between 2005 and 2025, more than 57 lakh people have been provided government jobs and employment. He said that Bihar is now moving rapidly towards becoming an industrial hub. Semiconductor factories, IT hubs, and new industrial policies will increase investment and provide employment opportunities for youth in their own state.

Thanking the people of Supaul, he said that the people here have demonstrated their trust in development by ensuring the NDA's victory on all five seats. Addressing a public meeting in Madhepura, the Deputy Chief Minister said that this land is the birthplace of eminent socialist leader BP Mandal, who strengthened the foundation of social justice and reservation. He said that when the Mandal Commission was implemented, Nitish Kumar was a central minister. He said that in 2005, the budget of Bihar was Rs 6,000 crore, which has now increased to Rs 3,21,000 crore.

The establishment of a medical college in Madhepura is also a major achievement of the NDA government. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the NDA government will move forward under the leadership and guidance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Thanking the people of Madhepura, he said that by winning three out of four seats, the people have strengthened the position of the NDA.
