Patna, March 5 (ABN) Janata Dal United (JDU) workers protested against the decision to make Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a Rajya Sabha candidate outside his residence on Thursday, following the news of his nomination. As soon as the news of Nitish Kumar's nomination as a Rajya Sabha candidate broke, JDU workers started gathering outside his residence early this morning. They announced that Nitish Kumar belongs to Bihar and they will not let him go anywhere. JDU workers were seen crying outside Nitish Kumar's residence. The workers caused minor damage to the JDU office and also disrupted it. Later, the JDU office door was closed due to the workers' anger. The faces of some JDU workers clearly showed anxiety, reflecting their sadness and restlessness over the development. Many supporters said they have always seen their leader Mr. Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar and want to see him that way. The workers are not convinced that Nitish Kumar will resign as Chief Minister and go to the Rajya Sabha. However, now that Mr. Nitish Kumar has made this decision, the JDU appears to be divided into two factions. JDU workers say they will go door-to-door to seek votes to make Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister, and if he does not become the Chief Minister, who will the people of Bihar trust. They demanded that Nitish Kumar's son Nishant be sent to the Rajya Sabha and Nitish Kumar should remain the Chief Minister, keeping the 2025 mandate in mind. A worker said that sending Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar to the Rajya Sabha is a conspiracy and his position and stature are being hurt. The Rajya Sabha seat holds no importance for Nitish Kumar. He further said that Mr. Nitish Kumar has consistently sent his leaders to the Rajya Sabha. He also said that Mr. Nitish Kumar's resignation from his post is a betrayal of the 2025 mandate. He further said that the sudden discussion about sending Mr. Nitish Kumar to the Rajya Sabha is unfair and the decision is questionable. He said that as long as Nitish Kumar is there, no alternative is needed. He said that some senior leaders within the JDU are working at the behest of the BJP and are trying to slowly sideline Nitish Kumar. He alleged that some JDU leaders have become overly complacent, hence the conspiracy to remove Nitish Kumar is being hatched. However, this is not acceptable to the workers and supporters working on the ground.
