Rohatas submerged before Rope Way trial

Awaz E Bihar•26 December 2025 at 07:06 pm•0 views•3 min read

Sasaram: The ropeway project being built to put Rohitashwar Dham, located in Rohtasgarh Fort, on the tourism map has suffered a major setback. During trials and testing on Friday, the main tower and upper part of the ropeway suddenly collapsed. The accident completely damaged the four trollies assigned for the trial. Fortunately, the workers present at the site managed to save their lives by running away, otherwise, several lives could have been lost. The collapse of the under-construction ropeway tower has created an atmosphere of grief and anger among the local people. Former Headman Santosh Kumar Bhulane, questioning the quality of construction work, has termed it a misfortune for Rohtas Nagar Panchayat. He said that if the tower cannot bear the weight of just four trollies, how will it ensure the safety of tourists with 12 trollies in the future. Local people have demanded a high-level investigation into the entire matter and strict action against the construction company responsible. Senior Engineer of Bridge Construction Corporation, Khurshid Karim, has presented his stance on the incident. He explained that the project is currently in the testing and trial phase. During the process of increasing the load, a wire suddenly broke, which increased the pressure on the tower and caused damage. The engineer clarified that a lot of work is still pending and it should not have been started without meeting safety standards. Given the severity of the accident, a special team of experts from Kolkata is arriving in Rohtas on Saturday. This team will thoroughly inspect the site and determine the actual technical reason for the tower's collapse. The team will also plan how to rectify the damage and rebuild it in the shortest possible time. According to Bridge Construction Corporation, the entire financial loss in the accident will be borne by the construction company. The company will rebuild the tower and upper part at its own expense. Officials have assured that the public will not be allowed to ride the ropeway under any circumstances until the department is fully satisfied with the tests and safety standards. Meanwhile, local representatives have appealed to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to take immediate action in the matter. They demand that the negligent company be immediately removed and this important work be handed over to a more capable and experienced company. This ropeway was a major hope for tourists visiting Rohtasgarh Fort, but the accident has raised serious questions about its safety and timeline.
