Patna: (ABN) In a crucial meeting of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national working committee, senior party leaders unanimously elected Tejashwi Yadav as the acting president. This decision is being seen as a significant step towards the party's future strategy and organizational stability. In the meeting, RJD General Secretary Bhola Yadav proposed Tejashwi Yadav's name as acting president, which was endorsed by all members of the national working committee. The meeting was presided over by party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. The meeting was attended by several key leaders and officials, including Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti, and Sanjay Yadav. Apart from 50 members of the national working committee, over 200 people, including special invitees, were present at the meeting. Party presidents, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs from over 20 states across the country also arrived in Patna.
Before the meeting, party leaders had clarified in their conversation with the media that if Tejashwi Yadav's name was proposed as acting president, he would receive full support. The leaders stated that Tejashwi is already leading the party practically, so it is a natural step to formally hand over this responsibility to him. The meeting also discussed ways to further strengthen the organization, increase the activities of workers, and conduct a detailed review of the party's performance in recent elections. The leaders emphasized that an unbiased analysis of the reasons for the electoral defeat would be conducted to prepare a clear strategy for the future.
Party spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan and former MLA Mukesh Roshan also welcomed Tejashwi Yadav's election, saying that young leadership can give the party a new direction. Some leaders said that reforms in the organizational structure, contact with workers at the grassroots level, and a strong stance on public issues would be the foundation for the party's future success. Despite all the speculation and reports of internal differences, Tejashwi Yadav attended the meeting with his close associate Sanjay Yadav and conveyed a message of keeping the party united after taking over the leadership. This decision is being seen as the beginning of a new era for the RJD in party circles.
Meanwhile, after Tejashwi Yadav's appointment as acting president, Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Rohini Acharya made a sharp comment on the social media platform X. She wrote, "In a way, this is the end of the glorious career of the top man in politics. Congratulations to the sycophants and the 'drone group' on the coronation of their 'puppet prince'." Rohini Acharya said that only a true Lalu supporter, who has selflessly struggled for the party established by Lalu Prasad Yadav to protect the interests of the backward and deprived population, would question those responsible for the party's current state. She also said that people would raise their voices, regardless of the consequences, to take forward Lalu's political legacy and the ideology of social and economic justice.
The RJD's decision has created a stir in Bihar's politics. In the coming days, discussions are likely to intensify regarding the political implications and electoral effects of this decision.
