Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the construction of the Saidpur underground drain along with the road construction work. During this, Patna Divisional Commissioner Animesh Parashar and District Magistrate Dr. Thyagrajan SM provided detailed information about the project to the Chief Minister.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister said that we have come and seen it many times before. He directed the officials to construct the Saidpur drain in a better way, and the work of constructing a four-lane road over it is progressing rapidly. He said that this project is very promising. Its construction will reduce traffic congestion in Saidpur, Rajendranagar, Maslahpur Hat, Gai Ghat, and hilly areas, and provide an alternative route for local people to connect to the new Patna bypass.
The four-lane road will not only provide better travel facilities to the city's residents but also enhance the city's beauty. It is worth noting that the water from 9 drainage pumping stations and a sewage treatment plant (STP) passes through the Saidpur drain. The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, under the Department of Urban Development, is constructing a road along with an underground drain from Saidpur to Pahari at a cost of Rs 259.81 crore.
The length of this drain is 5.61 kilometers. After this, the Chief Minister also inspected the construction of the road along with the Baqarganj underground drain. He directed the officials to complete the construction work effectively and quickly. Its construction will improve drainage in the area and eliminate waterlogging. The construction of the road over the drain will facilitate movement in the area.
The Baqarganj drain is a major drainage system in the inner part of Patna city, which flows from the Uma Cinema Hall to the Ganga River at Anta Ghat. This drain passes through many areas, markets, and residential areas of the city. It is an important route for drainage during the rainy season.
Under this project, a road of about 1.4 kilometers is being built over the drain, which will improve both traffic and drainage. During the inspection, the Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Minister's Secretary Kumar Ravi, Chief Minister's Secretary Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna Divisional Commissioner Animesh Parashar, District Magistrate Dr. Thyagrajan SM, Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma, and other senior officers were present.
