The four labour codes are a conspiracy to disempower workers and provide legal protection to capitalists' whims: Dipankar

Awaz E Bihar•12 February 2026 at 07:40 pm•2 views•2 min read

Patna, 12 February (ABN) The General Secretary of the Communist Party of India Marxist-Leninist, Dipankar Bhattacharya, alleged that the four labor codes introduced by the central government are a conspiracy to deprive workers of their rights and provide legal protection to the whims of capitalists. Mr. Bhattacharya, while addressing a rally at Dak Bungalow Chowraha in support of the nationwide strike called by the central trade unions, said that this historic strike by workers has received widespread support from agricultural laborers, farmers, students, and youth, which reflects the growing public outrage against the government's anti-people policies. He said that the four labor codes introduced by the center are a conspiracy to deprive workers of their rights and provide legal protection to the whims of capitalists. These labor codes are an attempt to weaken the ability of workers to organize and fight for their rights. He clarified that just as the historic farmers' movement forced the government to repeal the three agricultural laws, the workers' struggle will also force the government to repeal the four labor codes. The General Secretary said that the MGNREGA law was enacted to guarantee employment to agricultural laborers and rural poor. The demand of labor organizations is to ensure 200 days of employment and a minimum daily wage of Rs 600 under MGNREGA. However, in contrast, he alleged that the Modi government has betrayed workers and implemented policies that will increase rural unemployment. He also said that the government has mortgaged the country's agriculture to big companies and American interests. Opening up the agricultural sector to foreign pressure is against national interests and directly affects the lives of 60 percent of the country's population. Mr. Bhattacharya said that through the new education policy, privatization of education is being increased, the federal structure is being weakened, and an attempt is being made to impose the ideologies of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He appealed to workers, farmers, students, and youth to unite to protect their rights and take the struggle forward.
