Patna, March 15 (ABN) Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said on Sunday that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology will make the land survey and settlement work in the state more transparent, fast, and reliable. Mr. Sinha said that by adopting modern technology, the revenue administration is being strengthened, which will enable ordinary citizens to get easy, fast, and better services in land-related matters. He expressed confidence that the AI-based system will increase the department's performance and the survey work will be completed within the stipulated time frame. In the state, AI will also be used in the special survey and settlement work to ensure modern, more efficient, and timely completion of the revenue administration. In this regard, the Directorate of Land Records and Survey has issued necessary instructions to all settlement officers in the state. According to a letter issued by the Director of the Directorate, Suharsh Bhagat, an AI cell will be formed in the district settlement offices, which will work on the possible use of AI in the special survey and settlement program. The cell will be headed by the Settlement Officer, and will have IT Manager, Special Survey Assistant Settlement Officer (IT/Engineering), Special Survey Law Officer, and Special Survey Amin as members. As per the instructions, the AI cell will hold a meeting at the settlement office every week from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The committee will be responsible for making decisions related to the use of AI at the district level, nominating personnel for training, and implementing AI courses. Officers who complete the training will also be awarded a certificate after an examination. The letter stated that the target has been set to start using AI-based tools in settlement work from April 1, 2026. Emphasis has been laid on increasing awareness and providing necessary training to the concerned personnel. The Directorate has also clarified that this step is being taken to make the revenue administration more transparent, efficient, and technology-based, in accordance with the India AI Mission set up by the Government of India and the Bihar AI Mission ongoing in the state. The use of AI will make it easier to speed up work, improve decision-making, and identify potential errors or irregularities.
