Patna, 18 April: (ABN) An online conclave was held on the topic of the book "Islam Without a Soul", where a serious and intellectual discussion was held on the growing distance between the outward form of Islamic worship and its inner spirit. This topic holds particular significance in the present era, where religious identity is prominent, but its role and impact on daily life seem to be weakening.

The conclave was organized by renowned social figure Rizwan Ahmed, while MD Ali Zoq presided over it. The keynote address was delivered by Mohammed Qamruzzaman, who shared his personal experiences along with academic points.

Mohammed Qamruzzaman, hailing from Patna, pursued higher education in the United States in the 1960s. He earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Howard University and a master's degree in Management from Frostburg State University. During his educational journey, he worked various jobs to support himself. His professional career began as a Chief Engineer at Perkins Engines (1979-1982), followed by nearly three decades of service as a Program Manager in the US Army.

In his previous book "Muslim in Transit", he described the identity crisis of modern Muslims, while "Islam Without a Soul" further explores this discussion, emphasizing the inner and spiritual aspects of the faith.

The conclave provided in-depth insight into the book's key topics. The difference between the outward form of worship and its true purpose was highlighted. Sincerity and intention were deemed the foundation of every action, as without them, worship loses its spiritual value. It was also emphasized that the ultimate purpose of worship is to reform human character. Self-accountability was considered an effective means of personal reform, and it was stated that faith must be incorporated into daily life to have a significant impact on social and personal matters.

A significant and engaging phase was the question-and-answer session, where participants such as Shama Sadiqui, Tarannum Akhtar, Ambrin Parvez, and Aliya Firdous posed thoughtful and thought-provoking questions. These questions included maintaining sincerity in modern busy life, bridging the gap between knowledge and action, and transforming worship into practical ethics. The author appreciated these questions, stating that such serious inquiry forms the basis of intellectual and spiritual growth.

During the discussion, it was clarified that sincerity can elevate even small actions, while its absence can render large actions soulless. Self-accountability allows humans to recognize and correct their weaknesses. The true success of worship is evident in its impact on character. Honesty and justice were deemed the true test of faith.

Participants were also advised to begin every task with complete trust in Allah, which instills courage and perseverance in humans. Total submission to Allah was described as a means of balance in human life, while purity from envy, hatred, and unnecessary competition was considered the foundation of spiritual reform.

Sharing his personal experience, the speaker mentioned that in his childhood, he noticed a clear difference between prayer and character, which led him to ponder the inner aspects of faith.

This conclave proved to be an effective platform, forcing participants to think that religion is not just a collection of rituals, but a comprehensive way of life. Ultimately, the message was conveyed that the true value of any action lies not in its outward form, but in the depth of its impact.
