The shooting incident on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area has revived memories of the murder of former state minister Baba Sadique. Police are investigating the possible similarities between the two incidents and the alleged role of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang from various angles. It is noteworthy that both incidents occurred around the Dussehra festival. Baba Sadique was shot dead on October 12, 2024, outside his son Zishan Sadique’s office in Bandra East. In the recent incident, unidentified assailants fired at Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu on Sunday evening. Reports indicate that the actor’s driver and one other person were injured, while Tiger Shroff was spared from direct gunfire. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde later stated that the actor sustained a burn injury on his right hand due to gunpowder.

Following the recent shooting, a post and an audio message began circulating on social media, which are claimed to be linked to individuals associated with the Bishnoi gang. The alleged messages reportedly threatened people working with Tiger Shroff, referencing his relationship with actor Salman Khan.

After Salman Khan’s name surfaced, the matter is also being viewed in the context of the Baba Sadique murder case. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had claimed responsibility for Sadique’s killing. Mumbai Police had alleged in their investigation that the murder was part of a conspiracy to establish the gang’s dominance and to intimidate individuals associated with Salman Khan.

Investigative agencies had previously alleged that Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, played a role in directing the conspiracy behind Baba Sadique’s murder. However, in the case of the shooting at Tiger Shroff’s car, police have not yet verified the authenticity of the social media messages and audio, nor have they been able to prove the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Any direct link between the two incidents is currently being viewed merely as a possibility.

Reacting to the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that the state government will not allow criminal groups to create an atmosphere of fear and terror in Mumbai. Shinde met with Tiger Shroff at his residence and assured the actor and his family of protection. He stated that those responsible for the shooting would not be spared.

Referring to police operations against gangsters in the 1990s, Shinde said the government would take strict measures to prevent the return of the era of extortion, threats, and gunfire. Mumbai Police have formed 15 teams to arrest the assailants. Police officials are reviewing CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and other clues to identify the perpetrators, the motives behind the shooting, and the masterminds behind it.

The incident has once again brought into focus the issue of threats faced by Bollywood personalities following the shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024 and the murder of Baba Sadique in October of the same year. Police are also investigating whether the recent shooting was an attempt by an organized criminal group to spread fear and expand its influence, or if some other motive was at play. Only after the investigation is complete will it be clear who ordered the attack, who the assailants were, and whether the incident has any direct connection to previous cases.
