Siwan: (ABN) A massive explosion during firecracker manufacturing on Friday evening rocked the entire area in the district. Around seven people are reported dead in this accident that took place in Alamphur village under the Jamo police station area. The explosion was so severe that the front part of the house was destroyed and body parts were thrown far outside the house. Panic ensued in the village following the incident, and a large number of local residents gathered at the scene. According to a report by Live Hindustan, at around 5:30 PM on Friday evening, routine firecracker manufacturing was underway at the house of firecracker trader Amiruddin. Meanwhile, a fire suddenly broke out, leading to several consecutive explosions. The sound of the blasts echoed through the entire area. A portion of the house was severely impacted, causing significant damage to the building.
According to local residents, around seven people, including five members of the same family, died in the accident. These are said to include firecracker trader Amiruddin, his three granddaughters, one grandson, and two laborers. However, by the time of writing this report, the administration had not confirmed the final death toll. According to Siwan District Magistrate Vijay Prakash Meena, initially there was information about two to three bodies being recovered, while others were feared buried under the debris. The administration clarified that the exact number of casualties would be known only after the completion of the thorough search and rescue operation at the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, screams and cries filled the village after the blast. People rushed out of their homes in fear, and for a long time, it could not be ascertained where the explosion had occurred. Later it was found that the accident took place at the house of firecracker trader Amiruddin. The intensity of the blast can be gauged from the fact that the front part of the house was badly destroyed and some bodies were severely disfigured and thrown outside the house. Following the accident, an atmosphere of mourning and fear prevails throughout the village.
According to the report, during the accident, Amiruddin's daughter-in-law somehow managed to get out of the house and survived. A crowd of people gathered at the scene after the blast. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the spot, took stock of the situation, and initiated an investigation.
After the blast, it was feared that other people were buried under the debris of the house. Relief and rescue operations became difficult due to intermittent explosions in the firecrackers present inside the house. Administrative teams remained engaged in searching the debris and rescuing potential victims. Currently, the actual cause of the explosion, the final death toll, and complete details of the damage are yet to be revealed. The police are investigating the matter. The accident has also raised questions regarding the manufacturing of firecrackers in residential houses and their safe storage arrangements.
