Chief Minister Shri Smriti Irani inaugurated the three-day "Durga Saurasutra-2026" program today at Rowindar Bhawan in Patna, organized by Speaker Muke. On the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that in today's fast-paced life, people's interest in art and music is diminishing, and their distance from classical music has increased. In such circumstances, it is essential to preserve our glorious cultural heritage and pass it on to the next generation.

The Chief Minister said that a robust system needs to be established to protect, encourage, and continuously promote cultural programs. Classical music is an integral part of our glorious cultural tradition. If we seek mental peace, we must make classical music a part of our lives. Music also has a positive impact on human mental and emotional health.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to work towards connecting students in high schools and colleges with classical music. Necessary steps should be taken to enhance the utility of classical music in students' lives. This can help students achieve mental peace and stay away from the addiction to drugs. He stated that such classical music programs should also be organized in other parts of Bihar. The government will support further promoting classical music in Bihar, encouraging artists, and connecting the new generation with the tradition of Indian classical music.

The Chief Minister congratulated the program organizer, Dr. Maya Shankar, and urged her to continue her efforts to promote art and culture in Bihar through such classical music programs. He noted that such programs play a vital role in preserving our cultural heritage and generating interest in music within society. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also listened to a musical performance by the renowned classical singer, Shri Sajan Mishra.

Present on the occasion were Minister of Arts and Culture Dr. Pramod Kumar, Member of Parliament Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP State President and MLA Shri Sanjay Sarangi, former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Shri Tarkishwar Prasad, MLAs Shri Sanjeev Chaurasia and Shri Sanjay Kumar, Legislative Council Member Shri Sanjay Meukh, Mayor of Patna Mrs. Sita Sahu, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Reshmi Chandronshi, along with other public representatives and dignitaries.
