The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday appointed Bihar government minister Niten Nabin as the party's national working president.
The decision of the BJP's Parliamentary Board was informed by national general secretary Arun Singh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Niten Nabin on getting the new responsibility through a post on his X handle. Besides, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and national president JP Nadda also congratulated Niten Nabin on being made the national working president. After this announcement, a series of congratulatory messages started on social media for him.
Prime Minister Modi wrote in his message on X, "Niten Nabin has established his identity as a hardworking worker. He is a young and hardworking leader who has organizational experience and has served excellently as a member of the assembly and minister in Bihar several times. He has worked diligently to fulfill public aspirations. He is known for his attitude and style of working at the grassroots level. I am confident that his energy and dedication will further strengthen our party in the coming time. Congratulations to him on becoming the BJP's national working president."
It is clear that after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, party president JP Nadda was made the health minister, after which speculations about the new national president started. JP Nadda became the party's national president in 2020 and his term as president was till June 2024. Niten Nabin has been given this responsibility considering his role in strengthening the party organization and making future political strategy effective. His appointment is being seen as the BJP's organizational expansion in Bihar politics. With the announcement of Niten Nabin's name as the BJP's national working president, all the speculations in which several senior leaders were being considered have also ended. Through Niten Nabin's appointment, the BJP has also tried to balance the caste-based political balance. The new president of the BJP belongs to the Kayastha community. There has been a long-standing talk of bringing leaders from this community to high positions in the party. At the same time, Niten Nabin's role may also be important in the upcoming West Bengal and 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
