Patna, 22 February (ABN) The Urban Development and Housing Department of the Bihar government has issued directives to take strict action against all illegal meat and fish shops operating under the municipal bodies across the state. The department's notice states that many meat and fish shops are being run without proper licenses in several urban areas, affecting public health, cleanliness, and legal order. According to the guidelines issued by the department, many places are selling meat and fish illegally, violating the provisions of Section 345 of the Bihar Municipality Act 2007. Many shops are not following the set standards of cleanliness and are being sold in open and unhygienic environments, which can pose a risk to the health of ordinary citizens. Considering the situation, the department has directed all municipal bodies to identify and take immediate action against meat and fish shops operating without proper licenses, close shops that violate cleanliness standards, keep special vigil on shops operating near religious sites, educational institutions, and sensitive public places, and ensure strict adherence to the set rules and regulations for the establishment of such shops in the future. The department has also clarified that legal action will be taken against shops operating without licenses under Section 345 (4) of the Bihar Municipality Act 2007. The Urban Development and Housing Department has directed all municipal body officers to conduct a widespread inspection campaign in their respective areas to close down illegal shops and provide a report of its implementation to the department as soon as possible.
