Patna, December 17 (ABN) Bihar State Congress President Rajesh Ram has termed the death of Amrit Paswan and his three innocent daughters in Nolpur Musharolia village under Sakra block in Muzaffarpur district as a failure of the state government and said that the government should soon rein in microfinance companies to prevent such incidents. Mr. Ram said at a press conference held at the Sadakat Ashram, the state Congress headquarters, on Wednesday that a father, troubled by hunger, debt, and poverty, committed suicide along with his three daughters, which shows that neither protection nor justice is available for the poor in the state. The state Congress president said that the inhuman loan recovery by microfinance companies and banks has made life difficult for the poor and backward classes, and the government has completely failed to control it. He warned that the Bihar Congress will launch a statewide public movement against the arbitrariness of microfinance companies and banks and will fight from the streets to the parliament with the demand for strict laws. He said that this incident is not just a tragedy for one family, but due to it, people from several surrounding villages are being forced to migrate, leaving their homes and hearths due to debt pressure. He asked if there is any law left in the state, where the poor and the helpless are being forced to take the path of death, abandoning hope for justice. After visiting the site and returning, Rajesh Ram presented the eyewitness account of the affected family before the media and demanded strict action against the accused microfinance bank after identifying it. He demanded that the state government provide adequate compensation to the affected family immediately, take full responsibility for the education and upbringing of the surviving children, and conduct a high-level investigation into the debt and actions of microfinance companies. Media Department Head Rajesh Rathore, Spokesperson Dr. Sanjayashish Verdhana, Social Media Department Chairman Surabhh Sinha, and Legal Cell President Sanjay Pandey were also present at the press conference.
