Patna, 2 February (ABN). Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav strongly reacted to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan's address on the first day of the Bihar Legislative Assembly's budget session. He termed the Governor's address as the "same old speech" by the government, saying it had nothing new and was far from ground reality.
Tejashwi Yadav said he has been in the House for the past 10 years, during which every Governor has read out the same speech given by the government. He sarcastically remarked that the Governor's address reflected greenery and development everywhere, but the actual situation in Bihar was entirely different.
He alleged that many of the schemes mentioned in the address were copied from those of the Rashtriya Janata Dal before it came to power. Tejashwi said the government was only showing development on paper, while common people were still struggling with basic issues.
Tejashwi Yadav also attacked the government on the law and order issue. He said the law and order situation in Bihar was not hidden from anyone. The state was regularly witnessing incidents of murder, rape, loot, kidnapping, and firing. He accused the government of claiming good governance but actually emboldening criminals.
Regarding corruption, Tejashwi said that large-scale corruption had permeated many government schemes in Bihar. He said that corruption was evident at every level, from the block to the police station. Questioning the economic situation, Tejashwi Yadav asked why Bihar was the worst-performing state in the country economically. If Bihar had really developed, why was it not progressing like other states? He claimed that Bihar was lagging behind in almost every sector and was only ahead in corruption and crime.
Tejashwi Yadav also questioned the government's intention to hand over the investigation into the death of a girl student to the CBI. He said there were numerous cases that had been handed over to the CBI for investigation, but no concrete results had emerged even after years. Tejashwi alleged that when the government talked about "development with justice", its attitude and actions were completely opposite.
