Patna, The opposition staged a strong protest at the portico of the Bihar Assembly and Council, demanding a probe by the CBI into the death of a student under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court or the Supreme Court. The protest was led by CPI (ML) legislator Shashi Yadav. During the protest, opposition members leveled serious allegations against the government and police administration, demanding impartial investigations. A legislator from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was also present in the council and supported the protest. Opposition members alleged that instead of reaching the real culprits in the student's death case, the police are harassing the deceased student's family. RJD leaders said that the family is being subjected to mental torture by repeated questioning. They claimed that the police's role is suspicious and there has been a serious lapse in the initial investigation. CPI (ML) legislator Shashi Yadav said that criminal incidents against girls are happening continuously in Bihar. He cited the example of the incident at the Shambhunath Girls Hostel and the suicide of four girls in Aurangabad. Shashi Yadav said that the government has handed over the investigation into the student's death to the CBI, but merely changing the investigating agency will not ensure justice. He demanded that the CBI investigation be conducted under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court or the Supreme Court, so that it can be ensured that evidence is not tampered with at any level and no attempt is made to save the culprits. He said that judicial supervision will ensure transparency in the investigation process and give confidence to the affected family. On the second day of the budget session in the Bihar Assembly, opposition members created a ruckus. They held posters on the assembly portico regarding the student's case and raised slogans against the government. RJD, Congress, and Left party members demanded that the government break its silence. 25 members raised questions about the government's law and order situation. The opposition is accusing the government of laxity in the investigation and of shielding the culprits. The opposition says that the police administration ignored several important points in this case at the initial stage, did not take necessary action on time, and this has further deepened the suspicions. If the investigation had been conducted with impartiality and sensitivity from the beginning, there would have been no need for such a protest today. The opposition demanded that the government take the matter seriously, conduct a CBI investigation under judicial supervision, and take concrete steps to provide justice to the deceased student's family.
