Patna, December 16: Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar handed over appointment letters to 2390 newly selected candidates in Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited and its subsidiaries under the electricity department. These include 1810 technicians, 512 clerks, and 68 storage assistants. The Chief Minister symbolically handed over appointment letters to three candidates, Mr. Sany Skit, Mr. Asutosh Kumar Kumar, and Mr. Mohit Kumar Bhat.
During the program, the Chief Minister said, "I congratulate all the candidates who received appointment letters today and extend my best wishes. I hope you will work with enthusiasm and dedication to take Bihar forward." He further said, "We have been providing government jobs and employment to youth since the beginning. Between 2005 and 2020, more than 8 lakh youth were given government jobs. In 2020, under the Seven Resolves-2, we decided to provide 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities, under which we provided a total of 50 lakh jobs and employment opportunities. Now, we have decided to provide double this number, i.e., one crore jobs and employment opportunities in the next five years. The government is working rapidly on this."
During the program, an agreement was signed in the presence of the Chief Minister for the installation of a pumped storage project in the state. The Bihar government has implemented the Pump Storage Policy 2025 to strengthen energy conservation and promote renewable energy in the state. Under this policy, Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited has selected two agencies, M/s Greenko and M/s Sun Petro. These two projects are proposed in the hilly areas of Nawada district, where the natural height difference is suitable for the pumped storage system. The proposed project by Greenko has a storage capacity of 7,308 MW, and the Sun Petro project has a capacity of 6,973 MW. The combined capacity of both projects is 14,281 MW.
These two projects will bring an investment of Rs 13,000 crore to the state. During the construction phase of the project, approximately 8,000 people will get employment. These projects will provide unparalleled capabilities to integrate renewable energy, manage peak demand, and maintain grid stability in Bihar. This will provide cheap electricity to consumers. The initiative started by the state government's pump storage policy is a significant step towards making Bihar self-sufficient and technically capable in the energy sector.
Before the appointment letter distribution program, the Chief Minister inspected the State Load Dispatch Center located at Vidyut Bhawan and inquired about the arrangements there. It is worth mentioning that to ensure uninterrupted and standard power supply to all categories of electricity consumers in Bihar, a State Load Dispatch Center (SLDC) has been set up to coordinate with power generation centers, transmission companies, and distribution companies operating within and outside the state. Located on the fourth floor of Vidyut Bhawan in Patna, this center works 24x7 to maintain smooth power supply in the state.
