Patna, 02 March (ABN) The Vigilance Investigation Bureau has registered cases against 28 individuals related to corruption during January-February 2026, which is 28 times more than in 2024 and four times more than in 2025. This success is the result of continuous raids and special training given to the team. These remarks were made by the Director General of the Bureau, Jatinder Singh Gangwar, during a press conference on Monday.
He informed that in January-February 2023, 10 cases were registered, in 2024 only one case was registered, and in 2025, seven cases were registered. Thus, between 2023 and 2025, a total of 18 cases were registered in the first two months, whereas in the first two months of 2026 alone, 28 cases have been registered.
According to Director General Gangwar, recoveries of Rs 7.99 lakh have been made in these cases. In all cases, government employees were caught red-handed while taking bribes or action was taken in cases of disproportionate assets (DA).
He said that the Vigilance Bureau is fully committed to taking action against corruption. The team is being given continuous training, which has increased the speed and effectiveness of the action. According to statistics of the past 25 years, on average, 72 cases were registered every year, i.e., about six cases per month. However, in 2025, due to increased action, 122 cases were registered, i.e., on average, 10 government employees were charged every month.
He further stated that the Vigilance Bureau office is active 24 hours a day, and the process of action has become easier than before. In 2025, sentences were pronounced in 30 cases, while in January-February 2026, four cases have already been sentenced. Several cases have been taken up for speedy trial, and about 200 cases have been identified, with the goal of awarding maximum punishment by the end of this year.
On this occasion, the Director General also inaugurated the renovation and expansion work of the canteen building in the Bureau campus. He said that the opening of the canteen will provide convenience to the employees and make the Bureau's work easier.
