The Zakat system should be implemented collectively by running a movement: Rizwan Ahmed Islahi
Patna: A Zakat conference was organized by the Patna chapter of Zakat Center India at the AN Sinha Institute today, which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Maulana Asad Qasmi, Imam and Khateeb of the Patna Junction Jamia Mosque.
Rizwan Ahmed Irfani, Amir of the Bihar circle of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said in his address that just as mosques and imams deliver sermons on prayer, Hajj, and fasting, and convey their importance to the Muslim community, similarly, a collective movement is needed to implement the Zakat system. He said that it is written in the beginning of the Quran that you cannot become a complete believer until you spend your wealth in the way of Allah. A person cannot become pious without spending his beloved wealth, meaning that either the love of Allah or the love of wealth will be in his heart.
Maulana Rizwan Ahmed Irfani said that one who does not give Zakat is a polytheist. Zakat is obligatory charity. But here charity has been made obligatory, which is called Zakat. Charities are actually for the poor and the needy, and for those who are entrusted with the work of charity. He said that a collective movement is needed to establish the Zakat system. He said that people have started thinking that they give Zakat, but it is not their obligation to give Zakat. Awareness is needed to reach Zakat to the needy.
Former Chief Secretary Amer Subhani, who was the guest of honor, said that Zakat has great social significance in Islam. There should be collectivity in Zakat as well. Its importance cannot be denied. The people of Zakat Center are commendable. In any society, the rich and the poor cannot be equal, but by giving a little bit of equality, a class of society can rise. He said that Zakat is a guarantee of social, economic, and social security. In European countries, Australia, Canada, and the United States, there is a separate system for students who cannot study due to economic weakness.
The conference was moderated by Qamar Waris, Treasurer, Zakat Center Patna. He said in his address that two Zakat centers are working in the whole of Bihar, where the maintenance of the poor is being done. Later, SS Qadri, Chartered Accountant, President of Zakat Center India Patna Chapter, said in his address that Zakat Center Patna is moving forward in its objectives and is working like a revolutionary movement to establish the Zakat system.
Dr. Rizwan Ahmed Rafiqi, a trustee of Zakat Center India and Director of the Islamic Academy, Delhi, who came from Delhi, said that the Quran says about those who do not give Zakat that they will be punished severely. A day will come when gold and silver will be burned in the fire of hell, and Allah will ask where the wealth he gave was spent. He said that in India, 11 families have 40% of the country's wealth. This report is shocking. Islam formed a society in its early days where there was no one to receive Zakat.
The secretary of Zakat Center, Advocate Muhammad Nushad, presented the annual report for the year 2025 through a PowerPoint presentation. He said that the objective of Zakat Center is to bring prosperity to the society by establishing a collective Zakat system, so that today the recipients of Zakat become the givers of Zakat. Giving details of the expenses of the previous year, he said that about 29 lakh rupees were distributed among the needy in four phases, which includes employment, education, and assistance.
Among those who attended the conference were Alhaj Iqdam Siddiqui, Alhaj Dawood Ali, Hafiz Muhammad Ghulam Rabani, Muhammad Danish from Bhagalpur, Mahfuz Alam from Bihar Sharif, Ghaffar, Farooq, Advocate Sarfaraz, Master Manwar, Parvez Alam, and hundreds of people from other districts and locals.
